THE HALFMOON FIRE DISTRICT #1 COMPLETES

ITS FIRST ANNUAL INDEPENDENT FINANCIAL AUDIT

New York State law required all fire districts with revenues between $200,000.00 and $500,000.00 to obtain an independent external audit for the fiscal year ending in 2008.  The fire district audit was required to be conducted in accordance with standards applicable to financial audits prescribed in the Government Audit Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States.

The Board of Fire Commissioners of the Halfmoon Fire District #1 recently received the final audit report for the fire district, dated July 12, 2009.  A summary of the results of the independent audit are:

1)      The financial statements reported present fairly, in all respects, the financial position of the Halfmoon Fire District #1, as of December 31, 2008.

2)      The independent CPA, employed to complete the audit,  performed tests of the fire district’s compliance with certain provisions of laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements, noncompliance with which could have a direct and material effect on the determination of financial statement amounts.  The results of the tests disclosed no instances of noncompliance or other matters that are required to be reported under Government Auditing Standards.

As required by the Laws of New York State, copies of the audit report were filed with the Town of Halfmoon, New York and the Office of the State Comptroller of the State of New York.
