DISTRICT #1 COMPLETES

THE ANNUAL INDEPENDENT FINANCIAL AUDIT

FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING DEC. 31, 2010

New York State law required all fire districts with revenues between $200,000.00 and $500,000.00 to obtain an independent external audit for the each fiscal year. The fire district audit was required to be conducted in accordance with standards applicable to financial audits prescribed in the Government Audit Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States.

 

The Board of Fire Commissioners of the Halfmoon Fire District #1 recently received the final audit report for the fire district, dated June 29, 2011. A summary of the results of the independent audit are:

 

1) The financial statements reported present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the Halfmoon Fire District #1, as of December 31, 2010.

2) The independent CPA, employed to complete the audit, performed tests of the fire district’s compliance with certain provisions of laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements, noncompliance with which could have a direct and material effect on the determination of financial statement amounts.

 

As required by the Laws of New York State, copies of the audit report will be filed with the Town of Halfmoon, New York and the Office of the State Comptroller of the State of New York.
